The last time Rosa Medina had a haircut was a year ago when Riverside City College cosmetology students came to King Hall transitional housing center.
On Saturday, Medina got a manicure and a haircut when the cosmetology students returned to her temporary home at King Hall, near March Air Reserve Base.
About 50 women living in three transitional housing centers crowded into the dining area of King Hall to have their nails filed and polished and their hair cut and styled this Mother's Day weekend.
The day of pampering was organized by the Human Services Club on the Riverside Community College District's Moreno Valley campus, said club member Anna Beach.
"It makes you feel good," said Medina, a 60-year-old single woman who lives at the shelter with her 5- and 9-year-old grandsons.
King Hall, which is part of Path of Life Ministries, is on former March Air Force Base property
