The University of California regents will be asked today to appoint Timothy White, president of the University of Idaho, as the new chancellor of UC Riverside, according to several sources.
White would replace France Córdova, who left in June to become president of Purdue University. He was not in his office Wednesday, and no one answered at his home number.
White told the Idaho Board of Regents and senior university leaders a few weeks ago that he had been approached by and had entered into discussions with another institution.
Government sources confirmed that White is UC President Robert Dynes' choice, and The Idaho Statesman reported that White was being considered for the job.
Robert Grey, a professor and former UC Davis executive vice chancellor, has been UCR's acting chancellor.
Several UCR faculty and members of the search committee said they were sworn to secrecy until the UC Board of Regents' announcement this morning
