Laud adoption story
I was moved by the story of Kermit and Tami Alexander, the Riverside couple who adopted five siblings from Haiti ("This is the miracle," Jan. 27).
Instead of spending their golden years traveling or relaxing, they are making a difference by giving those children a home.
We need more people like them in the world who are willing to step up to the plate and take a swing. I look forward to reading updates about this blessed family.

Don't expect miracles
I guess some letter writers either didn't vote for President Barack Obama or they expected him to work miracles in his first year.
For whatever reason, they distrust him and most want to replace him with someone from the party that was instrumental in creating our present mess.
