Save U.S. needy first
The massive earthquake in Haiti was a devastating blow to a country with so many people and so few resources, but I have to question the United States' involvement in the evacuation and massive adoption of Haiti children ("Wings of humanity," Jan. 31).
We have many children right here in the United States who need loving homes: Why isn't as much effort being put forth to find homes for these children? Shouldn't we take care of our own orphans before importing more?
Additionally, adults are being evacuated and brought to the United States; are those adults up for "adoption" as well -- will they receive aid that we can't provide to our own homeless here? It does not make sense.
What makes sense is taking care of our millions of unemployed and homeless, and finding homes for all the children who are in foster care and crowded into orphanages. Help those here before importing more needy
