Boost recycling plans

I saw the column about Stater Bros. recycling and reducing waste in landfills ("Composting converts," Nov. 1). I would just like to say that I am in the Boy Scouts and we have been getting people to recycle more and throw away less trash.

Thank you for putting this in the newspaper because it will help tell more people to recycle more and waste less.

Raise health standards

I read "Health insurers' profits not as fat as critics say" (Oct. 26). If, as the article clearly states, the "Democrats and their allies" are those who intend to expose the health care insurance companies as big business , I applaud them.

I question how fat are their profits, really? The insurance companies spend hundreds of thousands of dollars weekly to lobby our representatives in Washington to defeat the health care bill.
