Community service earns teens honors -

Five students have been honored by United Neighbors Involving Today's Youth, better known as UNITY, during its annual awards in Corona.

Kelsie Shevitski, a 12th-grader at Santiago High School in Corona and president of the campus Unity Forum, was recognized for her three years as a peer counselor and work with the Teen Line for youth in crisis, including those considering suicide.

Alberto Gutierrez, an RCC student, was honored as a sergeant in Corona Police Explorer Post 404 for his leadership and hard work.

Tory Nichols, an 11th-grader and peer counselor at Norco High, was recognized for organizing students to visit, bake, hang student art work and plant shrubs and trees for residents of Norco Haven retirement community.

Edward Guevara, a 10th-grader at Corona High, was thanked for his donation to his school's effort to help a family losing their home   Read Full Article...
