Corona man's new job as AYSO commissioner brings new goals -

CORONA - Unlike many of his peers, Luis Cabral did not to have to take a crash course so he could coach his three children when he enrolled them in the Corona-Norco region of the American Youth Soccer Organization.

Cabral, 39, played the game while growing up in the South Gate-Montebello area of Los Angeles County. Many adults have to learn the game because they did not play as children.

Since he started guiding his son and two daughters through the ranks of AYSO, Cabral has become a student of the administration of the youth sport. He worked his way through the ranks so well that he is now the commissioner of the largest youth sports organization in the area. Cabral, the nearly 4,000 players and more than 300 coaches kick off the new season on Thursday.

"It's overwhelming," Cabral said. "We have a lot of work to do."
