Corona wants answers from Edison -

Corona officials say they've struggled for years to learn how the community has been benefiting from payments made to Southern California Edison.

At a meeting last week, Corona Mayor Karen Spiegel said the city has been asking Edison for seven years how residents benefit from paying into the utility company's community benefit fund, which areas are being upgraded with new equipment and where power poles are being replaced.

Edison supplies most of Corona's power.

Edison Regional Manager Louis Davis said his company has been working with the city all that time. He said after last week's meeting that he provided the city information on power outages and planned maintenance work. He expects to supply more information after a city infrastructure committee meeting on Wednesday, where the matter is likely to be discussed, he said.

Outages during recent storms prompted city officials to question whether old power poles were an issue.
