Corona-Norco boundary changes come with exemptions -

Current Centennial High School students in north Corona neighborhoods reassigned Tuesday night to Norco High School will be allowed to remain at Centennial next year.

The Corona-Norco school board's vote to change attendance boundaries would shift up to 381 students from Centennial High and Washington Elementary schools in Corona to Norco High and Highland Elementary in Norco.

However, Ted Rozzi, assistant superintendent for facilities, agreed with a request by board member Bill Hedrick to allow current high school students to stay if they want. Hedrick said part of that area, east of Interstate 15, was originally in Norco High's attendance area before it was reassigned to Centennial.

In addition, fifth-graders at Washington who want to remain there for sixth grade and students in the dual-immersion program will be able to remain at their current school on transfers, administrators told the board.
