Outside a Murrieta-area coffee shop, a man used about $5,000 worth of drugs as a down payment to hire an undercover agent, posing as a hit man, to kill a woman who used to supply him with drugs, a federal agent testified Friday.
Paul David Lenaburg, 57, of Santa Ana, insisted that Amber Jeffers' body had to be found so he could recover the money he posted for her bail, testified Brian Sale, a Drug Enforcement Administration agent.
"She was his source supply of methamphetamine," Sale said during a preliminary hearing at the Southwest Justice Center. "She had stabbed him with a knife ... because of that he wanted her dead."
Riverside County Superior Court Judge Judith Clark later ruled there was enough evidence to hold Lenaburg over for trial on charges of attempted murder, solicitation of murder and possession of a drug with intent to sell
