The city of Denver this week is again claiming its place in American history. Just as it did 150 years ago for settlers, prospectors and traders heading west, Denver and its blue, wide-open skies are still clarifying, confirming and moving us toward our American dreams.
Today, we want a fair chance to make a decent living, have a safe place to live, and the freedom to make our own decisions on things which impact the quality of our lives and those of our families. It is still, and always has been, that simple.
Democratic National Convention delegates in Denver this week are nominating Barack Obama for president, so that he can lead Americans in working toward the things many of us in Riverside County care deeply about -- rebuilding our economy, ending the Iraq war, enacting universal health care, and doing so without burdening the middle class with more taxes
