A jury of nine women and three men began deliberations Thursday afternoon in the 2001 killing of Hannah "Honey" Jordan after hearing closing arguments from the prosecution and defense that focused on witness testimony.
Hector Aguirre, 25, is charged with murder and carjacking in the fatal shooting of Jordan, a prominent Riverside community volunteer, outside a San Bernardino doughnut shop Dec. 31, 2001. He faces 90 years to life in prison if convicted.
San Bernardino County Deputy District Attorney Robert Bulloch told the jury that testimony from two witnesses who said they saw Aguirre commit the crime was enough to convict him. That testimony was buttressed by what he described as "a mountain of corroborating evidence."
"The evidence keeps building and building and building and continues to keep pointing to this defendant as the killer of Honey Jordan," Bulloch said
