Another side of Redlands' Prospect Park -

REDLANDS - Prospect Park is more than just a pretty place.

Its roads and trails are used for training by athletes young and old, as well as by casual joggers, strollers and dog walkers.

Now they can figure out how far they've gone. A map plots routes covering 1, 2 and 3 miles and is posted for study at a new kiosk. Soon, exercisers will be able to pick up copies to take with them.

The kiosk was put up late last year with the help of a donation from the family of Kathleen Callaway, a Redlands woman who took up running in her 50s. She lived on Highland Avenue and used the nearby park for training, said her daughter, Carolyn Grossberg, of Rancho Cucamonga.

The kiosk, designed to blend in with other structures in the venerable park, has Callaway's name on one side and a saying -- "Life is just a walk in the park" -- on the other.
