Redlands fire chief impressed with Haitians' patience after disaster -

Redlands fire Chief Jeff Frazier's time in Haiti was an exercise in patience and diplomacy.

Patience was what he saw in the Haitian people in Port-au-Prince, who had every reason to angry with their circumstances after a 7.0 earthquake devastated their city, he said.

Diplomacy what was he learned it took to get things done. It was a matter of ask, don't tell, said Frazier, who was sent to Haiti as part of a Federal Emergency Management Agency incident support team. The team worked with USAID, the U.S. Agency for International Development, which is more accustomed to working abroad, he said.
