Child cancer patient does a 'walk-on' -

Raquel Ramirez, 8, of Bloomington, had a walk-on role as one of the orphans in the Broadway in Riverside production of "Annie" at the Fox theater. It came as a welcome change from the role of leukemia patient she has played for two years.

Today, Raquel's mother, Louise Ramirez, said she has to rein in her very active daughter, who is now in remission.

"Raquel feels really good. She will start a cheerleading squad in March," said Louise Ramirez, an eligibility worker for San Bernardino County.

Though her daughter's part in the play is non-speaking and short, she said her daughter is very excited to be dressed in costume and to be on the stage.

Raquel Ramirez said she's excited about the play, but has never seen it before.

She started back to school last fall to second grade after missing half of first grade and all of second grade as a student at Crestmore Elementary in Bloomington. Once she was diagnosed with acute lymphomic leukemia on Dec   Read Full Article...
