Big month for Lincoln, and Redlands -

Abraham Lincoln's birthday will be celebrated by the Lincoln Memorial Shrine in Redlands at its 38th Annual Open House from noon to 3 p.m. Sunday Civil War re-enactors will set up camp in front of the shrine and Lincoln presenter Bill Peck will be on hand to recite the Gettysburg Address.

Inside the building, Civil War fiddler Bill Bell and his quartet will perform. Shrine docents will offer tours and light refreshments will be available. Samples of authentic Hardtack will be handed out to those who want to experience the true flavor of the times, said Shrine Curator Don McCue. The free event will also feature a Lincoln Log play area and complimentary biodegradable Lincoln balloons for children.
