Corona-Norco Unified accepting limited inter-district transfers -

For years, the doors to high schools in the Corona-Norco Unified School District have been closed tight to students from outside the district. There was no room for inter-district transfers.

But slowing growth, construction of new schools and demographic shifts have freed up a little space and for the first time in years, the district is accepting some inter-district transfers, said Tom Pike, assistant superintendent for executive services.

"There's always been interest" from students outside the district who want to transfer in, Pike said, though requests have dwindled over the years because the district has said no so often. "This is an opportunity for us to provide some spots."

Four of the district's comprehensive high schools and Kennedy Middle College High School have room for inter-district transfer students, Pike said.
