Friend of Hwy. 91 wrong-way driver faces charges for furnishing alcohol -

RIVERSIDE - A Riverside man who investigators say bought beer for a 19-year-old blamed in wrong-way collisions on Highway 91 that killed a pregnant woman and her unborn child turned himself in to authorities Wednesday and was jailed.

Daniel Christopher Ebert, 22, has been charged with one count of furnishing alcohol to a minor. He faces a maximum sentence of six months in jail if convicted.

He is set to be arraigned Sept. 24.

Ebert walked into the Riverside office of the state Department of Alcohol Beverage Control accompanied by his mother at about 1 p.m., said Jerry Ackley of the department's Target Responsibility for Alcohol-Connected Emergencies unit. The unit investigates crashes and other incidents that occur as a result of minors getting access to alcohol.
