A pair of mishaps left Paul Khosrowpour's journey to raise awareness about cancer and the need for more research incomplete, but the Corona man said he hopes to get another chance at the trip.
"My interest is still there. The cause is still there," he said.
Khosrowpour set off in late July on his Suzuki motorized scooter for a 24-hour "ScooteRun 4 Cancer" to Austin, Texas. His destination was the memorial service of his brother-in-law, one of several members of Khosrowpour's family who have been affected by cancer.
Khosrowpour had hoped the grueling ride, where he stopped only for gas and water breaks, would give him a sense of the pain his brother-in-law suffered as he fought cancer.
The trip to Texas was uneventful, but after his arrival, Khosrowpour was riding in a relative's car when it was struck by an oncoming pickup. He suffered a small fracture in his neck, and his wrist was dislocated, requiring surgery
