NORCO - The first Empty Bowls fundraiser for the Corona-Norco Settlement House was such a success that the second event is being moved from Corona to Norco.
The second Empty Bowls will be from noon to 6 p.m. Sept. 20 at the Church on the Hill, 2000 Norco Drive in Norco.
More than 600 people attended and another 100 volunteers worked at the first event in March 2007 when the Women's Improvement Club raised $21,700 for Settlement House.
Twenty-one restaurants donated soups and salads.
"We were really thrilled," said Kathy Fichtelman, a Corona resident who is co-chairwoman of the event. "We started out hoping for $3,000. It kind of snowballed. We had great support from the city and everybody in the community."
This year's event will be held in the church assembly hall that doubles as a basketball court and has room for 425 people, larger than last year's site.
