Inland fans big on 'Indy' -

Inland audiences were out in force over the holiday weekend, nudging the regional per-theater average earnings to substantially higher than the national per-theater earnings in the top seven movies.

The big movie of the weekend was, of course, "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull." Considering it faced no other new movies, had little competition from the previous week's offerings, and was released the Thursday before a long holiday weekend, its success was no surprise, especially in the Inland area, where action and adventure movies do well.

But the percentage of success may be a shocker: In the region, the movie made an average of $42,050 per theater, compared to the national average of $29,596.
