Riley's Farm in Oak Glen serves 18th century atmosphere with dinner -

Labor Day is still more than a week off, but we can start thinking about autumn in Oak Glen while we wear white.

Riley's Farm, one of the U-pick establishments up in the San Bernardino Mountains, is offering an incentive to head up early, before the apple harvest season begins in earnest.

Riley's has been serving theme dinners set in 18th century New Hampshire on Saturdays. There are three left on the schedule and more special events coming after that.

The price, $17.76 if booked in advance, includes the meal, entertainment and plenty of atmosphere. The setting is a public house with dark wood walls and plank floors. Sparse decorations include a picture of George Washington and colonial era firearms. Lighting is old-fashioned wax-burning candles on the tables and hanging from the ceiling.
