Too much good stuff -

Random notes, idle thoughts and a (too) sweet Super Bowl ...

Brett Favre would have been the perfect polarizing figure for the Super Bowl.

In recent years, the king of faux retirements has alienated enough of his old fans that he would have brought a natural love 'em-hate 'em element to the big game.

Now we're left with Indianapolis, a team everyone loves because Peyton Manning is a famously adored All-American boy, and New Orleans, a team everyone loves even more because of the Saints' pitiable history and the city's recent tragedies.

In fact, this year's Super Bowl is brimming with stories and personalities you have to root for. There just aren't any bad guys.

I hate when that happens.

Not that the absence of evil will cut down on viewership. Watching the Super Bowl is mandatory in America for retaining citizenship.

Is there a more irrelevant all-star game than this weekend's Pro Bowl? Vaporize it. Put it out of its misery.
