Patton: Lesser-known golfers get shot at Hope -

LA QUINTA - No Tiger? No Phil? No top-ranked golfers to speak of at the Bob Hope Classic?

No problem for the players who are here, who know this isn't the week you want to miss a tee time.

No problem for a guy like Martin Flores, a 27-year-old rookie from Texas who collected his first $12,100 on the PGA Tour last weekend and found himself among the leaders Saturday at the Bob Hope Classic with a chance at a $900,000 first-place prize.

"It's definitely a first for me," said Flores, who finished the third round 1 stroke behind another first-year hopeful, Alex Prugh.

"There's a first for everything. I just seem to be very comfortable in this situation for some reason."

Hmmm, could it be that there's nothing and no one to make anyone here with a golf club in hand feel intimidated, nervous or out of his element?
