Magic in midst of disappearing act -

LOS ANGELES - In the star-driven NBA, Dwight Howard doesn't even make a passing attempt at false modesty.

"It all starts with me," said Orlando's 24-year-old center before the Magic played the Lakers in an NBA Finals rematch Monday night at Staples Center.

Unfortunately for the Magic, it pretty much ended with him, too.

The 6-foot-11, 265-pound rock played one of his better offensive games lately, scoring 24 points after back-to-back eight- and 11-point flops.

But his teammates, the NBA's most prolific three-point shooting team, couldn't drop a tea bag in a cup of hot water, missing seven consecutive from long range (and nine overall) at the end of the third quarter and the start of the fourth, allowing the Lakers to rally for a 98-92 win.
