LOS ANGELES - USC's run to basketball respectability has come to a screeching, if temporary, halt.
UCLA's annual trip to the NCAA tournament is sliding toward early cancellation.
Saturday, at least, the two teams had each other.
The Trojans had the Bruins to beat up on, proving to anyone who still cares that they may not have a postseason in their future, but they are good enough to administer the worst drubbing of a USC team over UCLA in Pauley Pavilion, 67-46.
And the Bruins had the Trojans to remind them just how far the UCLA program has nose-dived this season, the home team playing a wholly non-competitive, hard-to-witness game in which they were dominated at every turn.
All in all, it's a dreary season for both teams. But at least it was a good day to be a Trojan.
