PASADENA - A national championship of the anticlimactic.
Nine plays into the game it was over -- the devastating loss of Texas quarterback Colt McCoy to a shoulder injury, opening the door to a night of the inevitable.
Pack up Bevo, sing "Yea Alabama" and let's go home.
A 37-21 Alabama victory. A coast-to-coast robbery and a letdown for a nation of expectant football fans who didn't get to see the country's best quarterback try to work his senior magic against the nation's most ferocious defense.
Bless those gutty kids from Texas who could have quit but infused the game with some competitiveness and actually made Alabama sweat in the fourth quarter.
But with McCoy sidelined it was the Crimson Tide's Bowl Championship Series title to collect -- crystal trophy at will call, fellas! Coach Nick Saban even got a chance to brand the game with his own cold heart, a needless touchdown in the last 47 seconds
