RIVERSIDE - The waiting may have been the hardest part.
Tom Craft sat in the back of the meeting room Tuesday night, cooling his heels while the Riverside Community College District Board of Trustees spent an hour debating about -- you ready for this? -- committees.
That matter having been decided, or at least put off for another time, the board eventually turned its attention to the matter of RCC's next football coach.
And after a brief discussion, as well as grousing from at least one board member that people in Sacramento knew the identity of the candidate before the board itself did, Craft's hiring was approved by a unanimous 5-0 vote.
It was his first victory. It had better not be his last, given that the clock has started on a two-year contract (with salary figures of $102,000 in 2010 and $107,100 in 2011, correcting the document that had originally been posted)
