ANAHEIM - The Ducks are saying what they have to say these days. They almost seem to be trying to talk themselves into believing another late rush to the playoffs is not only possible but also probable.

"Traditionally, we've always been a better second-half team," Todd Marchant said Saturday afternoon after the Ducks' 4-2 victory over Phoenix continued their slow crawl toward that coveted eighth spot in the Western Conference.

"We could easily say, 'Well, that's it. We're not going to make the playoffs, so this season's over.' But we're not saying that. We're saying all the right things, and we're doing all the right things, and you know what? You'll be rewarded for those things later in the season."
