Not even a new quarterback or a new offensive line is enough to dissuade the nation's coaches from voting USC No. 2 in the nation in Friday's Top 25 coaches' poll.
The Trojans received 14 first-place votes and finished just eight points behind No. 1-ranked Georgia, which received 22 first-place votes. Ohio State also received 14 first-place votes and finished No. 3.
The fact Ohio State returns 19 starters from a team that finished last year ranked No. 1 at the end of the regular season made it the odds-on favorite to be ranked No. 1 or No. 2 but the Trojans were 38 points ahead of the Buckeyes in the poll.
USC and Ohio State play Sept. 13 at the Coliseum. The coaches apparently were not worried USC quarterback Mark Sanchez started just three games last season or the fact four of the five offensive line positions will be new starters
