Bruins QB Olson works to get healthy again

After his first extended throwing day in two months, BenOlson's calves were sore. Truth be told, so was his left shoulder, and his surgically repaired right foot was hurting as well.

UCLA's senior quarterback was completing a grueling 14-hour day of football and rehab - some offseason, huh? - and his body was talking back.

What began at 6 a.m. in the rising sunlight of Spaulding Field ended close to 8 p.m., long after the sun faded behind the buildings of the Westwood campus.

In the snap of a finger, and the tear of a knee ligament, Olson went from UCLA's forgotten backup to its starting quarterback during a practice in the spring.

Now, Olson is trying to prove everyone wrong - including the new offensive coaching staff, which chose now-injured Patrick Cowan ahead of him - while trying to transform a once-promising career that has been riddled with injuries.
