Hard lesson for UCLA student broadcaster

This is finals week at UCLA, and Kyle Hyman, a senior majoring in biochemistry, thought he did pretty well in his human genetics class exam Wednesday. But the lesson the 22-year-old said he learned this week about the sports broadcasting business might be longer lasting.

Hyman, the sports director at the campus Internet-only radio station (www.UCLARadio.com), found out Monday he won't be allowed to broadcast any of the Bruins' games during the NCAATournament, beginning today in Anaheim.

Westwood One radio syndicator holds exclusive rights for all NCAA Tournament Internet broadcasts through its deal with CBSSports.com's "March Madness on Demand" service as well as Sirius Satellite Radio.
