Suspect arrested in San Dimas slaying

SAN DIMAS - A man has been arrested on suspicion of shooting a local woman to death in her own home, officials said Thursday.

Elijah Blue Baca, 26, of San Dimas was arrested early Wendesday and booked on suspicion of murder, Lt. Paul Becker of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Homicide Bureau said.

Baca is accused of fatally shooting 38-year-old Michelle Anna Marie Blum, sheriff's and coroner's officials said.

She was pronounced dead at 5:20 p.m. Sunday after a former roommate discovered her body inside a bedroom of her home in the 500 block of West 3rd Street, sheriff's and coroner's officials said.

She died from a single gunshot wound to the head, Los Angeles County Department of Coroner Assistant Chief of Operations Ed Winter said.

Becker declined to release a motive in the attack, saying the ongoing investigation is "still very active."

Details of the arrest were not immediately available.
