LOS ANGELES- The board of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority voted to put a half cent sales tax measure on the November ballot that could provide as much as $40 billion over 30 years.
After amendments that would require MTA to review the list of projects to be funded from the tax every six years failed, the MTA board voted 8-2 to put the tax on the ballot.
The amendments came from two San Gabriel Valley-area board members who felt that the area, along with other areas in the county were not getting their fair share from the money. According to MTA reports, the San Gabriel Valley has 18.3 percent of the county's population, and would receive 16.4 percent of the funding from the project. Under the Dome
