Pasadena gets its 15 minutes of fame during Obama speech

PASADENA - Hundreds of area residents watching the televised speech of Sen. Barack Obama accepting the Democratic presidential nomination got a thrill when CNN aired footage of them cheering for the Senator on Thursday night.

The event at Blair High School, which was organized by the Pasadena-area United Democratic Headquarters, was one of a handful of parties across the nation that were televised on small screens during Obama's speech.

Jon Fuhrman, one of the campaign managers of the UDH, was ecstatic about seeing the event on national television.

"CNN was looking through a list of about 44 events in the Los Angeles area when they came across us," said Fuhrman, after Obama's speech had ended. "We just got the call this morning."
