Turiaf signs Warriors' offer sheet

EL SEGUNDO - As expected, restricted free agent Ronny Turiaf signed an offer sheet Thursday from the Golden State Warriors worth $17 million over four years.

The Lakers received the paperwork from the Warriors and have seven days to match the offer. Or the Lakers can decline, allowing Turiaf to go to the Warriors while seeking a free agent to replace the energetic reserve forward.

The Lakers reportedly have spoken to the agents for unrestricted free agents James Posey and Kurt Thomas.

The Lakers declined to comment Thursday, but general manager Mitch Kupchak said Wednesday he hoped to retain Turiaf. Golden State's offer might be too steep a price for the Lakers to pay a backup who averaged 6.6 points last season.

After all, the Lakers have significant salary cap and luxury tax issues, devoting about $75 million to only 10 players so far. The salary cap will be $58.680 million for next season and the luxury tax will be $71.150 million   Read Full Article...
