Matt Faulkner came to Mt. San Antonio College with a lot of fanfare, but the sophomore has lived up to the billing.
The bounce-back transfer from Fresno State was named National Division/Central Conference Offensive Player of the Year this week to lead a list of 14 Mounties selected all-conference.
Mt. SAC's Bruce Irvin, who's committed to Tennessee, was defensive player of the year, with Bob Jastrab coach of the year.
Faulkner keyed the Mounties' run to the top seed in the upcoming CCCAA Southern California playoffs by throwing for 2,147 yards and 20 touchdowns in leading Mt. SAC to a 9-1 overall record and 6-0 mark in the Central Conference.
Irvin is second on the team with 48 tackles and has a team- high 13 sacks.
First-team honors for Mt. SAC went to offensive linemen Joe Unga and Manase Foketi, wide receiver Jesse Canada, defensive lineman Kapono Asuega, linebacker Kerel James and defensive back Arness Ikner
