Hungry for some on-the-go summer travel snacks? Encino's Hungry Girl, Lisa Lillien, has plenty of ideas without going overboard - and most are low in calories and fat.
Whenever she travels, like on her recent 11-city book tour to promote her new cookbook, "Hungry Girl: Recipes and Survival Strategies for Guilt-Free Eating in the Real World" (St. Martin's Griffin; $17.95), she totes numerous goodies to avoid eating high-calorie junk food.
"I always take 100-calorie packages of Blue Diamond Almonds, Fiber One bars (any flavor), Promax 70 Bars (chocolate flavor), Quaker Mini Delights (Caramel Drizzle flavor), individual bags of freeze-dried fruits like apples, peaches, pineapple and apricots, and, if I have access to a fridge, light string cheese (with 50 or 60 calories each). Also, I always have Vitalicious VitaTops (any of the chocolate flavors) on hand.
"You're better off bringing your own snacks when you're on a plane or in a car," she advises
