WEST COVINA - When Chevy's in Westfield West Covina closed its doors in May, it created an opportunity to bring new business into the evolving downtown landscape and revive an old favorite - Bob's Big Boy.
The building Chevy's left behind on the northeast side of the shopping center will be split into two.
When Bob's Big Boy opens in November, it will convert 6,000 of the 9,000 square feet that was originally built for Chevy's. An ATandT corporate store will open on the other side, according to Sander De Wildt, the general manager at Westfield West Covina.
De Wildt hasn't seen the final drawings, but he said it will have the trademark 1950s diner look that Bob's Big Boy is known for - including that iconic Big Boy statue clad in red checkered overalls.
