Whittier shop offers diversity of cooking utensils

WHITTIER - For those who are sick of driving all the way to Brea or Pasadena for upscale cookware, relief is here.

A Whittier couple recently opened the Chef's Corner Store in Uptown.

"We're seeing, as people become more educated and more informed, they are starting to take more chances with cooking and explore more tastes," said Darren Barker, who owns the store with his wife Nancy.

Barker said Whittier has a healthy number of people interested in cooking, food preparation and high-quality ingredients, often referred to as "foodies."

The shop, at 6710 Greenleaf Ave. opened in June and is filled with top brands, such as All-Clad, staub and Viking.
