Patriots stand up to Ravens

The message of the day was to promote pink, but really the colors of the New England Patriots' 27-21 win on Sunday over the Baltimore Ravens were black and blue.

Players all around the NFL wore pink shoes, pink wristbands, etc., to promote breast cancer awareness. But there was nothing dainty going on out on the Gillette Stadium field turf. It was a war.

Balls being spiked. Fists being pumped. The cameras caught Patriots head coach Bill Belichick pumping his toward the crowd after this one. He was even smiling when he entered the auditorium to begin what one might guess is his least favorite task of the week, meeting the media for the post-game press conference.

I couldn't be prouder of our players, Belichick said. They went toe-to-toe (with the Ravens). Give our players all the credit in the world. We had our hands full. We stopped them on fourth down twice in the fourth quarter. That's when you have to be there.
