NASHUA - A pre-dawn fire Sunday appeared to have destroyed an historic Pine Street building that housed a private social club, a convenience store and seven apartments.
The fire appeared to have gutted the second and third levels of a 1900s building at 45 Pine St. The building also housed Club Social and the P&J Mini Market. The apartments were occupied, but all the tenants are believed to have gotten out of the building safely, city fire officials said.
The city fire marshal late morning said the cause was still under investigation and declined to comment yet on where the fire might have originated. However, witnesses said the fire started around 3 a.m. apparently on the third floor of the south or southeast side of the brick building.
