UCLA basketball might get LSU center

UCLA's basketball team might be a Final Four contender in 2009 after all.

Dallas South Oak Cliff center J'Mison Morgan, who signed with LSU, has requested a release from his letter-of-intent.

Morgan told the Dallas Morning News he requested his release Sunday, but a LSU spokesperson said the school hadn't received a request from Morgan as of Tuesday afternoon.

LSU coach John Brady was fired in February, and the Tigers hired Trent Johnson.

Morgan originally said he would honor his commitment to LSU, but he apparently has changed his mind.

"He's planning for sure to attend UCLA next year," said Ronnie Morgan, J'Mison's brother, said Tuesday.

The Bruins already have the top recruiting class in the country - according to numerous recruiting experts - in Jerime Anderson, Drew Gordon, Jrue Holiday and Malcom Lee.
