Rio Mesa's Jamison right on the marks - Senior can become first to go 40-0 in Pacific View matches, set school goal-scoring record today

Alicia Began likely had no idea when she got Jenny Jamison started playing water polo at Rio Mesa of Oxnard, that she was also grooming someone who had the potential to surpass her as the program's all-time leading scorer.

But as much as Jamison's journey this season has been about the motivation and drive to set records - individually, and as a team - it has also been a tribute to Began and all the other teammates that helped put her in a position to do so.

"I wanted to break Alicia's record with class," Jamison said. "I didn't want any cheap goals. It was important that whatever I got, I earned it."

With another impressive performance at 3:15 p.m. today against rival Camarillo, the senior standout could not only break Began's 2008 school record of 118 goals in a season, but become the first player in program history to go 40-0 in Pacific View League matches for her career   Read Full Article...
