Kings' winning streak ends at nine, thanks to Ducks

ANAHEIM - There are few memorable, high-stakes games in the head-to-head history between the Ducks and Kings.

The last one is usually the most memorable, and the Kings' victory last Thursday at Staples Center was no exception - except for the fact that, by beating the Ducks five days ago, the Kings tied a franchise record with eight straight wins.

They were going for No. 10 on Monday at Honda Center when the Ducks chose to claim their first victory in the rivalry series this year, winning 4-2.

For two teams that have never met in the playoffs, this is about as good as it gets.

"The last couple times we've played (the Kings), we were on the second half of a back-to-back," Ducks head coach Randy Carlyle said. "We didn't have a lot of energy and they did. Tonight we had a lot of energy."
