Lancaster resident suspect in burglaries

LANCASTER - An investigation into a rash of commercial burglaries in which businesses' front glass windows were smashed has led to the arrest of a Lancaster man.

William Hamblen, 42, was taken into custody last week during a traffic stop when a Los Angeles County sheriff's deputy said he appeared to be the person captured in a store surveillance video.

More than a dozen businesses were hit during the early-morning hours between April 5 and April 23.

Taken were electronics, auto parts and money. Deputies said they recovered evidence linking Hamblen to 13 of the 16 incidents.



Thursday is deadline for poetry contest

PALMDALE - Entries for the city's 12th annual Poetry Contest are being accepted until 5 p.m. Thursday.
