1. Could we eventually be looking at an all-Valley Div. III championship game between Crespi of Encino and Notre Dame of Sherman Oaks on May 29 at Dodger Stadium?
Good chance, especially if you look at the numbers. Crespi is seeded No. 1 and Mission League rival Notre Dame is No. 2.
And as for what it takes to get to the championship game, it usually makes sense to focus on pitching and fundamentals - Crespi and Notre Dame are both strong in those categories - plus how difficult the road to the final is. And, frankly, the competition isn't particularly insurmountable for either one.
Crespi right-hander Tyler Johnson has never lost a high school game - he is 9-0 this season, 19-0 in his career - and with top relievers Ryan Hawthorne and Sean Gilmartin, all the Celts usually have to do is piece together a small lead before letting the arms take over
