LONG BEACH - Jordan Danny, Andrea Kropp and Melissa Bates have a history of making history at Belmont Plaza, and Tuesday night at the third annual Southern Section Masters Meet was no different.
After the top three female 100-yard breaststrokers in Southern California all finished under the Masters record last year, they duplicated the feat again in the rematch, only this time it was Hart of Newhall's Danny who delivered the thrilling victory. Trailing by nearly a second at the 50, Danny rallied to break Kropp's record, winning in 1minute, 2.19 seconds, with Mater Dei of Santa Ana's Bates taking second in 1:02.65.
"It was my desire to win. (In the last 25 yards) it was me wanting to win and get the title that pulled me through," said Danny, who took runner-up last year to Flintridge Sacred Heart of La Canada Flintridge's Kropp, 1:03.80 to 1:03.81, with Bates taking third (1:03.86).
