Denis Lin, Kyle McMorrow and Marcos Giron all swept of their singles' matches in the Thousand Oaks High's So. Sec. Div. I quarterfinal boys' tennis match, but superior efforts by Santa Barbara's doubles team's led to the Lancers being defeated 69-66 on games.
"We thought we had them," Thousand Oaks coach Dave Assorson said. "We won all our singles matches."
Thousand Oaks (16-4) dropped its final three doubles matches 6-0, 6-0, 6-0, thanks to performances like the Dons' (25-0) team of Evan Teufel and Andrew Grant, who swept all matches.
"Their doubles team are extremely superb," Assorson said. "They should be playing college tennis."
The Lancers advanced to the quarfinals thanks to a 69-66 defeat of Corona on Saturday.
