Auto show puts spin on health

WOODLAND HILLS - It wasn't easy for Arnold Urquidez and his wife Carol to cope with his impending kidney failure.

At first, he preferred to simply sit back and wait for the doctors to tell him what to do after the 2000 diagnosis. But Carol, whom he married in 2003, pushed him to do more than just that.

Last year, the San Fernando couple founded the Kidney Quest Foundation, a group that provides support and finds donors for others facing similar diagnoses.

The foundation held its first Annual Custom Car & Motorcycle Show in Woodland Hills on Saturday, a fundraiser that attracted car buffs from around Southern California.

"We're here today to let people know that we're here to help," Carol Urquidez said.

The event, held in conjunction with Pachuco Car Club, included food and entertainment from a variety of acts ranging from blues bands to stand-up comedians. An estimated 5,000 people were expected to attend   Read Full Article...
